MANDY BARKER
Altered Ocean

MANDY BARKER, Altered Ocean

Oceans are essential to life on earth, they cover more than 70% of the planet’s surface, regulate the climate, and supply the oxygen we need to survive. But every year, more than 12 million metric tons of plastic enters our oceans affecting marine environments, biodiversity, and human health. For more than 15 years, the different series of materials collected, depict the ‘ingredients’ of the plastic objects photographed and classified. A long-term project to raise awareness of excessive plastic consumption and the broader issue of climate change.
